Ashrama (stage)

Ashrama refers to the four stages of life in Hinduism that every person goes through.

First, there is the stage of Brahmacharya, which is the stage of being a student. This is when a person is young and learning about the world and their religion. It is a time of preparing for their future roles in society.

Next, there is the stage of Grihastha, which is the stage of being a householder. This is when a person gets married, starts a family, and enters the workforce. They must make a living and contribute to society.

The third stage is Vanaprastha, which is when a person takes a step back from their worldly responsibilities. This is when they start to prepare for their death and the afterlife. They may give up their possessions and spend more time on spiritual practices.

Finally, there is the stage of Sannyasa, which is the stage of being a renunciant. This is when a person has given up all their possessions and is solely focused on their spiritual journey. They may become a monk or a spiritual teacher.
