Assisted reproductive technology

Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is a way for people who have trouble getting pregnant to have a baby. It works like this: First, doctors use medicines to help the woman's body make more of her eggs (the cells needed to make a baby). Then, the eggs and the man's sperm (the cells needed to make a baby) are put together outside of the woman's body. This process is called in vitro fertilization (IVF). Finally, the egg and sperm are placed in the woman's body so the baby can grow there.
