ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Associative learning

Hi there! Have you ever learned something by connecting it to something else you already know? That's what we call associative learning!

You know how sometimes your mom tells you to eat your vegetables before you can have dessert? Well, that's an example of associative learning. You learn that if you want dessert, you need to do something first (in this case, eat your vegetables).

Associative learning is when we make connections between things that are related to each other. So if you see a dog and someone tells you it's called a "puppy," you learn that the word "puppy" is associated with the animal "dog."

Another example of associative learning is when you learn to tie your shoes. At first, it might seem really hard and confusing. But as you practice more, you start to associate certain movements with different steps in the process of tying your shoes. Eventually, you learn how to do it without even thinking about it!

In summary, associative learning is all about making connections between things that are related to each other. It's how we learn new things by relating them to things we already know.
