ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Astronomical interferometer

An astronomical interferometer is like a really big, fancy telescope that can see things in space really clearly by using lots of smaller telescopes at the same time. It's like having a bunch of eyes all looking at the same thing!

Each of the small telescopes takes a picture of the same thing in space, and then those pictures get put together like a puzzle to make a bigger and more detailed image of whatever is being looked at. It's like putting all the pieces of a puzzle together to see the whole picture.

This helps astronomers see things in space that they might not be able to see with just one big telescope. It's like if you wanted to see all the details of a really big picture, you might need a magnifying glass to make everything look clearer. In the same way, the astronomical interferometer helps astronomers see more details and learn more about space.
