ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Autocorrelation

Autocorrelation is kind of like a reflection. Imagine looking at your reflection in a mirror. No matter which way you turn, the reflection still looks like you. Autocorrelation is like that reflection in the mirror, except it's a reflection of a data set or pattern. When you look at the autocorrelation of a data set or pattern, it will look exactly like the original data set or pattern, no matter how you twist or turn it.
