ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Automatic train operation

Automatic Train Operation (ATO) is like a robot driving the train. Instead of a person operating the train from the front, computers do the work. ATO uses sensors, cameras, and computers to help the train stop and start at the right times and move along the tracks safely. The computers keep track of the speed, like how fast the train should be going, and help the train stay on track and follow the right route. ATO helps make sure the trains are always running on time and there are no accidents.
