Okay kiddo, do you remember learning about atoms? They're like the building blocks of everything! Well, inside atoms there are tiny particles called electrons that spin around the middle part called the nucleus.
But sometimes, these electrons get so excited that they break away from the nucleus and zoom out really fast. When this happens, we call them beta rays.
Now, beta rays are not like the sunshine you feel on your skin. They are actually made up of teeny tiny particles called beta particles. These tiny particles are so small that they can't really hurt you unless you get too close and they touch your skin.
But, scientists can use beta rays for all sorts of cool things! For example, they can use them to help kill bad cells when someone is sick. This is called radiation therapy.
So, beta rays are like tiny zoomy particles that come from atoms and can do some helpful things in science. Pretty neat, huh?
