Bicycle chain

When we ride a bicycle, we need to make the wheels turn. But how do we do that? Well, we use our feet to push the pedals which are attached to a special part called the chain. The chain is a long metal link that looks like a necklace that goes around two gears (the big wheels) – one near the pedals and one near the wheel.

When we push the pedal, the chain moves along with it, and because it's connected to the back wheel gear, the gear starts to turn. So, in short, the chain helps to transfer the power from our feet to the wheels of the bike, making it move forward.

But wait, there's more! The chain needs to be kept "tight" too – not too loose and not too tight – otherwise, it won't work properly. And, because the chain is made of metal, it needs to be cleaned and oiled regularly, to keep it running smoothly like the engine of a car. If the chain gets rusty or dirty, it can make the bike hard to ride or even damage the gears. So it's important to keep the chain in good shape if we want our bike to ride smoothly!
