Biot number

The Biot number tells you how quickly heat can move through something. It's a number between 0 and infinity and it helps engineers figure out how to keep things cool, or warm. To calculate the Biot number, you need to divide the heat transfer resistance of your material (how well it conducts heat) by its thermal capacity (how well it stores and moves heat).
