ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Heat conduction

Heat conduction is how heat moves from a hotter place to a cooler place. Think about when you are cooking something on a stove. The heat from the stove travels though the pan and makes the food hot. That is heat conduction. Heat will always try to travel from a hotter place to a cooler place, so the hotter something is the faster the heat will move. Heat moves in the same way that water moves, it wants to fill up a space. That's why when you put a spoon in a cup of hot tea, the heat of the tea starts to travel along the spoon and makes it warm. Heat conduction is how heat and energy move around the world!
