ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bleep censor

A bleep censor is something that people use to cover up bad words or inappropriate language on TV, radio, or movies. It's like putting your hand over your mouth when you say something rude or when you hear something you shouldn't say.

When someone on the TV or radio says a bad word, the bleep censor comes in and makes a loud sound that blocks the bad word. Sometimes it's a beep(s), a bird chirp, or even a funny sound, like a duck quack. It's like the censor is saying "I'm not going to let anyone hear that naughty word."

The bleep censor is used to protect people from hearing bad language that they might not want to hear. It's important to use it because people of different ages watch TV or listen to the radio. Some words might be okay for adults but not for kids, so we don't want anyone to be exposed to bad language they shouldn't hear.
