The Bradley Effect is something that people in the United States used to worry about when they were voting in Presidential Elections. It is named after Tom Bradley, who was the first African American Mayor of Los Angeles. In the 1982 California Governor's Election he was running against George Deukmejian, and the polls predicted that Tom Bradley would win by a lot. But when the votes were counted, he lost by a small amount. In the years since then, people have worried that voters who were polled said they were going to vote for candidates of color, but when they actually go to vote, they didn't. This phenomena is sometimes referred to as the "Bradley Effect" and it's something that people were concerned about in past Presidential Elections.
