ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Break clause

A break clause is a part in a contract that gives either the person who wrote the contract or the person who signed it the option to end the contract earlier than expected. It's like a way to make sure that either person can decide to end it if they have a good reason. For example, if you've rented an apartment but your job moves to a different city, the break clause in your contract would let you end the contract without having to pay a lot of money or face legal penalties.
