ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Breed type

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have different kinds of dogs, right? Some puppies look like their mom and dad, while others may look different. That's because some dogs have something called "breed type".

Breed type is like a family tree for dogs. It means that some types of dogs have very specific looks and traits that are passed down from their parents and grandparents. For example, a pug will always look like a pug because they have breed type - they have certain features that are unique to their breed.

It's kind of like how you might have some traits from your mom or dad, like the color of your hair, the shape of your nose, or even how good you are at sports. Dogs have their own version of that. Some breeds are really good at certain things, like hunting, herding, or being a lap dog.

So when people talk about breed type, they're talking about these specific characteristics that make a breed look and act a certain way. It helps us understand what different kinds of dogs are like and what they were originally bred to do.
