Byzantine military

The Byzantine military was like a big group of soldiers who protected the Byzantine Empire a long, long time ago. They had different jobs and things they were good at, just like how you may be better at drawing than your friend.

The leader of the Byzantine military was called the emperor. He was like the boss and made important decisions for the soldiers. The soldiers were called warriors or soldiers, and they were trained to fight in battles. Some of them rode horses and had special armor to keep them safe.

The Byzantine military also had some really smart people called engineers. They came up with ways to build strong walls and machines that could help the warriors in battles. They would make trebuchets and catapults that could throw big rocks and fire at the enemy.

But the warriors didn’t just fight with weapons and machines. They also used some tricky strategies to surprise the enemy. For example, they might pretend to retreat or make loud noises to make the enemy think they were stronger than they really were.

Overall, the Byzantine military was a big team of soldiers, engineers, and leaders who worked together to protect their empire.
