Carburizing is when we give metal more carbon to make it stronger. It's like giving a plant more water to make it grow bigger and taller.
We take the metal, usually steel, and heat it up really hot. Then we put it in a container with a gas that has carbon in it, called a carburizing gas. The metal stays in the container for a certain amount of time, and the gas adds carbon to the metal.
After that, we cool the metal down slowly so it doesn't get too hard and become brittle. Now the metal has more carbon in it, making it stronger.
This process is important for making things like gears and other parts for machines. They need to be strong so they can handle a lot of work without breaking.
