ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cheating in online games

When you play a game with other people on the internet, it's like playing with people you've never met before. It's like being in a big room full of people you don't know, but instead of seeing them in person, you see their characters on your computer or phone screen.

Just like when you play games in real life, you have to follow the rules when you play online games. One of the rules is that everyone has to play fair, without cheating. Cheating means doing things that give you an advantage in the game that no one else has, or doing things that aren't allowed by the game's rules. It's like if you were playing tag with your friends, and someone used a cheat code to make themselves faster than everyone else. That wouldn't be fair, and it would ruin the fun for everyone else.

In online games, cheating can look different depending on the game. For example, in a game like Fortnite, players might cheat by using hacks or cheat codes to make themselves invincible, be able to fly, or have infinite resources (like guns and ammo). In a game like Minecraft, players might cheat by using mods or hacks to find hidden things in the game, or to make their own structures much faster than everyone else.

When someone cheats in an online game, it's not fair to everyone else playing. It can make the game less fun and frustrating, because the cheater is often very hard to beat. Plus, cheating can sometimes crash the game or make it behave in weird ways, which can spoil the experience for everyone.

That's why it's important to play fair and follow the rules, whether you're playing games online or in real life. If you think someone is cheating, you can report them to the game's administrators so that they can investigate and take action if needed.
