Churchkhela

Okay kiddo, have you ever had a long, stringy candy called a licorice stick? Churchkhela is like that, but it's made with nuts and grape juice instead of sugar.

First, grown-ups in Georgia (a country in Europe, not the state in America) take walnuts or hazelnuts and string them onto a thread. Then, they dip the nut string into a mixture of grape juice and flour so it gets coated.

After that, they hang the coated string up to dry. As the grape juice dries, it hardens into a chewy candy coating around the nuts. Finally, the thread is removed and the churchkhela is ready to be eaten.

Some people like to eat churchkhela as a snack because it's sweet and chewy, but it's also good for energy because it's made with nuts. So next time you want a tasty snack, ask your mom or dad if they can find some churchkhela for you!
