City walls of Athens
The city walls of Athens were like a big, strong fence to protect the people who lived there. Just like how your fence at home keeps out bad bugs and animals, the walls were meant to keep out bad people who might try to harm the people of Athens. These walls were made out of big blocks of stone that were stacked on top of each other to make a really tall barrier around the city.
