ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Civil servant

A civil servant is someone who works for the government, meaning they don't work for a private company or for themselves. Civil servants help the government to run things like schools and hospitals, and to make sure that the government provides things like roads and bridges. Civil servants work in offices, but they can also work in the community, like visiting people at their homes or helping them at events. They get paid by the government, and they usually have to follow a set of rules and regulations.
