ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Classification scheme (information science)

A classification scheme is like a filing system. It organizes different pieces of information in a logical way, so that it's easier to find them later. For example, if you have a lot of books, you could organize them by author name, the year the book was published, the genre of the book, or some other category. That way, you can quickly find the books you're looking for without needing to look through every single one. Classification schemes are used to organize different kinds of information, not just books.
