Clerestory

A clerestory is like a window that is high up on a building. Imagine you have a really tall building that has a roof on top. Now imagine that there are some windows on the walls of the building that are way up high, near the roof. Sometimes these windows are called clerestory windows.

The reason why they put these windows up high is so that light can come in, even if there are things blocking the lower windows. For example, if there are trees or other buildings around the tall building, the lower windows might not get any sunlight. But the clerestory windows can still let in light, because they are way up high where nothing is blocking them.

Clerestory windows can be really pretty, because they let in a lot of natural light. Sometimes they even have stained glass or other decorations in them. They're also really practical, because they can make a tall building feel more open and airy, with more natural light coming in.
