ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Co-branding

Co-branding is when two or more companies work together to create and promote a new product or service. It’s like when you and your friend decide to make a cool new game together. You both put your ideas and skills together to create something really awesome.

For example, imagine your favourite toy company, LEGO, partners with your favourite movie studio, Marvel, to create LEGO sets inspired by the Avengers movies. This means that LEGO and Marvel work together to design and make the toys, and put both of their names on them. This is co-branding!

Sometimes, co-branding happens when companies want to share their audiences or customers. They may have similar customers, but not the exact same ones. By combining their products, they can reach new people and grow their businesses even more.

Co-branding can also help companies sell more products. When two well-known brands combine their powers, sometimes people will buy the new product just because of the names on it. It’s like when your mom lets you buy a toy cereal because it comes with your favourite cartoon character on the box.

Overall, co-branding is when two companies work together to create something new that they hope will be better than what either of them could have made on their own.
