Commodification

Commodification is when something is seen as a product or item to be bought or sold. You can think of it like a LEGO set. If you buy a certain number of LEGO pieces, you could use it to build something. Those pieces are the commodity, and when you buy the pieces, the store has commodified them. That means the pieces are treated like any other product (like an apple) and you can buy them.
