ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Commonwealth of Nations

Imagine you're a part of a big club with lots of friends. You all have different jobs and live in different places, but you like spending time together and helping each other out. This is kind of like the Commonwealth of Nations. It's a club of countries that used to be ruled by Britain a long time ago, and they decided to stay friends even though they're not all part of the same country anymore.

The Commonwealth of Nations was created in 1931 when a group of countries decided to work together on things like trade, education, and culture. Today, there are 54 countries in the Commonwealth, and they all meet together every two years to talk about ways they can help each other and work together.

Being a part of the Commonwealth is kind of like having a big family. Even though all the countries are different, they all have the same values and beliefs. They also have a special flag and anthem that they share.

One of the important things about the Commonwealth is that they try to help each other out. For example, if one country is having trouble with something like healthcare or education, the other Commonwealth countries might send experts or resources to help out. They also work together to fight climate change and promote human rights.

Overall, the Commonwealth is a group of countries that decided to stay friends and help each other out even after they became separate nations. They meet together every two years to talk about how they can work together and make the world a better place.
