ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Computer vision syndrome

Computer vision syndrome is a big name for something that happens when you look at a computer, tablet, or phone screen for a long time. Your eyes might start to get tired, dry, and maybe even blurry. That’s because your eyes need to move and focus a lot to keep up with everything that’s happening on the screen.

It's like when you play with your toys for a really long time, and your hands and arms start to get tired. Your eyes are like your hands, and they can get tired if you use them too much.

So, when you use a computer, you need to make sure you give your eyes a break. You can do things like looking away from the screen, blinking your eyes more often, and maybe even adjusting the brightness and contrast of your screen. These things can help your eyes rest and feel better.
