ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Conditional-access module

A conditional-access module (CAM) is like a special key that helps you to watch certain shows on your TV. Just like you need a key to unlock a door, you need a CAM to unlock special channels or shows on your TV. Your TV will have a slot for the CAM to be inserted into. Most TV providers will give you a CAM when you sign up for their service.
