Consoling touch

Consoling touch is when someone gives you a gentle hug, squeeze of the shoulder, or other comforting act when you are sad, scared, or upset. It is meant to make you feel better and more secure and to show the other person cares about you. It also can help take away some of the bad feelings by calming you down and reminding you that you are not alone.
