ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Constitutional rights

Constitutional rights are something that everyone in the United States has. It's like a promise made to us by the government that they will treat us fairly and let us do certain things. This promise is written down in a big book called the Constitution, so it's easy to remember. We have the right to speak our minds, practice the religion we want, and get a fair trial when we are accused of something. We also have the right to vote, to own property, and to have equal protection under the law, which means that everyone has to be treated the same by the government, no matter if they are rich or poor.
