Contact (law)

Okay kiddo, when two or more people talk, they make agreements or promises. These promises are called a "contract". Contracts are important because they help everybody know what they are supposed to do, and what they will get in return. Contracts can be written or spoken, and they can be about all sorts of things, like buying or selling things, renting or borrowing things, or even doing work for someone.

When people make a contract, they need to follow certain rules. These rules are called "contract law". It's like playing a game or having rules when you play with your friends. If someone breaks the rules, they can get in trouble, just like in a game.

For example, if you promise to give your friend a toy if they give you a cookie, that's a contract. You have to keep your promise and give them the toy if they give you the cookie. If you don't give them the toy, you're breaking your promise and they can get mad at you.

So, in short, contact law is a set of rules that help people make and keep their promises when they make contracts with others.
