ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cosmic string

Imagine you have a really long piece of spaghetti or a piece of string that stretches into outer space.

Cosmic strings are like that, but they're made of something called "cosmic superstrings," which are even thinner than spaghetti strands but WAY longer (like millions or billions of light-years long!).

These cosmic superstrings are thought to have been formed in the early universe, and some lucky scientists think they can observe them by using special telescopes to see how they bend the light coming from distant galaxies.

What's so special about cosmic strings, you ask? Well, some theories say that if you could somehow grab onto one of these long strings, you might be able to use its energy to travel through time or even into another universe! It's like having a magical secret passage that only a few people know about.

But for now, these cosmic strings are still just a cool idea waiting for more evidence to be found.
