ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Counterdependency

Counterdependency is when someone tries to avoid being dependent on others by taking care of themselves without asking for help or support. Imagine you are playing with your friends and you get hurt, but you don't want to show that you are hurt because you don't want them to worry about you or think that you are weak. Instead, you try to fix it by yourself, even if you need someone else's help.

Counterdependency is like being your own superhero, but sometimes it can make people feel lonely or isolated because they don't let anyone get close to them. It's okay to be independent and take care of yourself, but it's also important to know that sometimes it's okay to ask for help or support from others.
