Criticism of copyright

Copyright is a law that protects the rights to a creative work, like a book, movie, song or painting. When someone creates something, they usually get the copyright to it, which means they are the only ones who can decide what happens to their work.

Criticism of copyright means that people think the law doesn't work very well. People say that the copyright law doesn't protect the rights of the creator, but it only helps people like record companies, movie studios and other big companies who want to make money, without giving the creators much of it.

Another criticism of copyright is that it can restrict what people can do with creative works, like not letting them use the work in their own work, or even sometimes not letting them share it with friends. People think this stops people from being creative and sharing their work.
