Crypto-Papism

Crypto-papism is a belief that if something is done in a secret or hidden way it is better or more important. For example, if someone says a prayer in a whisper, they might think that prayer was more special or more likely to be answered than if someone said it out loud. Crypto-papism can be about things other than religion too. Some people might think that doing something in secret and telling only a few people about it is more special or more powerful.
