ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cube root

Okay, imagine a cake that you cut into small pieces. Let's say you have 27 pieces. If you want to know how many pieces you started with, you need to find the cube root of 27.

The cube root is a special kind of number that tells you how many of the same number you need to multiply together three times to get another number. In our cake example, we know that 3 x 3 x 3 = 27. So the cube root of 27 is 3.

It's like finding the square root, but instead of needing two of the same numbers multiplied together, you need three of them. Cube roots are helpful in math when you're dealing with measurements in three dimensions, like volume.
