ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Curse of knowledge

The Curse of Knowledge is a fun way to think about something called the bias people have when they know something better than others. When we know something really well, it can be hard to remember what it was like not to know it. This means that when we explain something to someone else, we usually just give them the basics and expect them to understand things the same way that we do. This can be frustrating for the other person, because they may not know all the insider words we use, or all the shortcuts we take for granted. The Curse of Knowledge means it can be hard for us to help others learn what we know.
