ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Delaunay refinement

Delaunay refinement is like when you are making a puzzle and you don't have all the pieces yet. Your parents give you more pieces, but they don't fit where you want them to fit. You have to move some of the pieces around until they all fit in the right spots.

In math, we have something called a mesh (like a puzzle) that we use to solve problems. Sometimes we need to add more points (like puzzle pieces) to the mesh but they don't fit in the right spots. Delaunay refinement is when we move some of the points around in the mesh to make room for the new ones. We want to make sure that every point is connected to its nearest neighbors so we can solve problems more accurately. It's like fixing a puzzle so it looks nicer and works better!
