ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Demonstration (people)

Okay, let's say you and your friends really want to get your mom's attention to do something important. Instead of just talking to her, you decide to go outside with signs and shout your message all together. This is called a demonstration, where a group of people gather to express their opinions or ideas about something.

It's like when you go with your classmates to the playground to show your teacher that you don't like a new rule. You all hold up signs that say "We want recess back" and chant together so your teacher can hear how everyone feels.

People can demonstrate for many different reasons, like to protest against something they don't think is fair, or to show support for a person, group or cause they care about. It's usually peaceful, but sometimes people get really angry or violent, which is never okay.

Sometimes the demonstration makes a difference and the people in charge have to listen and take action. And sometimes they don't, but either way, it's important for people to speak up and have their voices heard.
