Dendroclimatology

Dendroclimatology is when scientists look at the rings inside trees to learn about the climate in the past. Trees grow a new ring every year, and the rings can tell us how much water and sun the tree got during that year. We can use this information to figure out if that year was hot, dry, or cold. Scientists can compare the rings from different trees to see how the climate has changed over time. It's like looking at a tree's diary to learn about what the weather was like a long time ago!
