ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Devolved English Parliament

Okay kiddo, so England is a part of a bigger country called the United Kingdom, which has four countries in it: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Each of these countries has their own government, but some things are still decided by the UK government in London.

Now, some people in England think that they should have their own government that makes all the decisions just for England, rather than the UK government in London making decisions for them. This is called a devolved English Parliament.

Think of it like this - you and your siblings share a room, and sometimes mom and dad make rules for the whole room. But sometimes, you might want to make your own rules just for your side of the room. That's similar to what some people in England want - they want their own rules just for England, instead of rules that are decided for the whole United Kingdom.

Does that make sense, little one?
