Diesel locomotive

A diesel locomotive is a train powered by an engine that runs on diesel fuel. The engine uses the diesel fuel to produce energy, using a process called combustion. The energy produced is used to move the locomotive forward on a set of steel tracks. The diesel engine is the same kind used in many cars and trucks, but much bigger and more powerful. The locomotive also has big wheels and axles to help it move along the track. Some diesel locomotives are also equipped with electric motors to help them go faster or pull heavier loads.
