Dilution ratio

Okay, let's imagine we are making orange juice. Remember how mom or dad asked us to add water to the juice if it's too strong? This water added to the juice is what we call a dilution. Dilution ratio is a way to measure how much of something we are mixing with water to make it weaker or less concentrated.

For example, if we take a cup of juice and add one cup of water to it, we have a 1:1 dilution ratio, which means we have diluted it in the ratio of 1 part of juice to 1 part of water. If we add two cups of water to that same cup of juice, we now have a 1:2 dilution ratio, which means we have diluted it in the ratio of 1 part of juice to 2 parts of water.

So, the dilution ratio tells us how much of something we need to mix with water to make it less concentrated. The higher the ratio, the less concentrated it will be, and the lower the ratio, the more concentrated it will be.
