Dioecy

Dioecy means that there are boy plants and girl plants, just like there are boy and girl people. The boy plants make pollen, which is like small dust that can travel in the air or be carried by insects to the girl plants. The girl plants have ovaries, which can turn into fruits or seeds if they get fertilized by the pollen from the boy plants. Some plants can even change from being boy to girl or vice versa, but dioecious plants only have one type of flower on each plant. So, if you want to grow some fruit or seeds from dioecious plants like some palm trees or holly bushes, it's important to have some boy and girl plants nearby so they can make babies together!
