Distance

Distance is how far away two things are from each other. Imagine you are playing a game of tag and you are trying to catch your friend who is running away from you. If you are close to your friend, they will be easier to catch, but if they are far away, it will be harder to catch them. This is because the distance between you and your friend is greater when they are far away. We use things like rulers, tape measures, and odometers to measure how far apart things are. The distance between two things can be measured in different units like centimeters, inches, miles, or even lightyears (which is how far light can travel in one year).
