ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Duplex perception

Alright kiddo, have you ever looked at a picture or a TV show and seen something different in each eye? That's called duplex perception!

Let me explain it to you. You have two eyes that help you see the world around you. Each eye sees things a little bit differently. Your brain takes the information from both eyes and puts them together to make your one picture of the world.

Now, imagine you're looking at a picture that has two different images in it. One image is meant for your left eye to see and the other image is meant for your right eye. Your brain is amazing and can actually separate the two images so you see one image with one eye and the other image with the other eye. That's duplex perception!

It's like a magic trick your brain can do. And scientists have found that it can help people who have trouble seeing things in 3D. By using duplex perception, they can make people see things in a new and more accurate way. Cool, huh?
