East North Up is a way to show directions on a map or a picture. Think of a map like a big picture of the Earth. Just like how the real world has North, South, East, and West directions, a map can have it too.
When we use East North Up, we imagine that we are looking down from above, and we want to show the map in a way that looks like we’re looking at it straight-on. This means that North is always pointing up, East is always pointing towards the right, and West is towards the left, and South is pointing down.
So, if you were standing on a road facing north, with your left-hand side facing towards the West, your right-hand side would be pointing towards the East. But when we represent that on a map, we need to make sure that it looks like that's what's happening even if we're looking at it from a different angle.
Using this method helps us to understand a map easily, and helps us navigate and find our way around.
