ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Economy of Northwest Territories

Hey kiddo, so you know how when we go to the store to buy things we need money to pay for it? Well, it's kind of like that but for a whole bunch of people living in a bigger area called the Northwest Territories.

The economy in the Northwest Territories is different than what you might be used to because there aren't as many people living there compared to other places in Canada. This means there aren't as many stores or businesses for people to buy things from.

One important thing to know is that the Northwest Territories is a really big place with lots of rivers, lakes, and forests. This means that some people make their living by doing things like fishing, hunting, and working in the natural resource industries.

There are also some bigger industries in the Northwest Territories like mining and tourism. Mining is when people dig for things like diamonds, gold, or other valuable minerals in the ground. Tourism is when people come to visit the area to see things like the Northern Lights, go dog sledding, or explore the beautiful nature around them.

Overall, the economy of the Northwest Territories is unique because of its location and the smaller population. But people are still able to make a living by working in various industries and taking advantage of the natural resources around them.
