Climate change is causing the oceans to get warmer, and that is having a big effect on ocean life. As the water gets warmer, it can absorb more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and this is changing the chemistry of the water and making it more acidic. This is causing coral reefs to die and fish to get sick. It’s also making it harder for some animals to find food and a safe place to live. As the ocean gets warmer, it also can cause bigger and more powerful storms. All of these changes to the ocean can be dangerous to ocean life, and could cause some species to go extinct.
