Electron affinity

Electron affinity is how much energy is released when an atom gains an extra electron. Think of it like a game. Some atoms want to get an extra electron and as soon as they get it, they release energy, like fireworks, so we can measure the energy that's released. The bigger the energy released, the higher the electron affinity of the atom.
