Emancipation reform of 1861

The Emancipation Reform of 1861 was a law in Russia that freed millions of people from slavery. It allowed the serfs (a kind of slave) to become free citizens with their own land and to be able to get jobs. It was a really big deal because it gave thousands of enslaved people the chance to live a better life. It was a big change and it made a huge difference!
